Kisah Saidjah dan Adinda

Video di atas adalah pelengkap dan alasan saya ingin menceritakan kisah Saidjah dan Adinda. Akhir-akhir ini saya sering nonton video-video The Trees and The Wild di Youtube, nah salah satunya yang di atas itu, video live performance mereka yang menyanyikan lagu yang berjudul Saija di ARTE Festival 2013.

"Saija remuk,
dan dia kan sadar,
yang tak diam dengannya,
hanya waktu."

Nah itu dia lirik lagu dari Saija, singkat (tapi kok videonya sampai 9 menit? Nah itu dia The Trees and The Wild, their music speaks louder than words!), bikin penasaran, sebenarnya siapa Saija ini? Saya googling deh (manusia era sekarang, penasaran mengarah ke google) dan menemukan blog tumblr yang membedah lagu Saija, di sini. 

Saija yang dimaksud dalam lagunya The Trees and The Wild itu adalah Saidjah, salah satu tokoh yang ada dalam buku Max Haveelar karya Eduard Douwes Dekker alias Multatuli. Yang sering perhatiin pelajaran IPS pas SD pasti ga asing lagi deh sama nama penulisnya :p

Saya telusuri lagi mengenai kisah Saidjah ini. Dan menemukan banyak referensi. Baiklah, izinkan saya untuk berdongeng secara singkat sesuai dengan referensi yang saya dapatkan. Here I go.

Saidjah adalah anak laki-laki miskin, bekerja sebagai pengembala kerbau milik Ayahnya. Suatu hari, para kolonial Belanda menangkap Ayahnya dan memasukkannya ke penjara karena tidak sanggup membayar pajak, mereka juga mengambil kerbau miliknya. 

Saidjah lalu beranjak dewasa, dia ingin memenuhi wangsit ayahnya yaitu menikahi Adinda. Adinda adalah seorang anak perempuan yang bernasib sama dan merupakan tetangganya. Merasa miskin untuk menikahi Adinda, akhirnya Saidjah memutuskan untuk hijrah ke kota Batavia untuk mencari kerja.

Sebelum Saidjah pergi, dia menemui Adinda, lalu...

I found him, like a week ago when I'm looking for "Your Body Is A Wonderful cover" on youtube. And I don't know, it happened all of a sudden, I'm in love with his voice. *ceilaaah*




And I explored through his youtube channel, listened to his another cover. And also I found some of his original songs. Very good stuffs. (psst, I converted them to mp3 and put them on my phone :P)

And yesterday, he uploaded a new video that shows him singing another original song. That song currently become my favorite.
